Semester-long intervention program for challenging students who are at-risk of expulsion or dropping out of high school.
SailFuture’s after school mentorship program provides tutoring, mentorship, and a supportive community to help at-risk teens achieve their high school diploma.
NEAR AGE MENTORSHIP
We recruit driven, passionate and relatable college students to become mentors for every one of our students.
Youth in this program are disengaged teenagers that have lost respect for the “traditional path.” The average GPA is a 0.6 and many youth are on the verge of expulsion of dropping out of high school.
Since the program began in 2013, SailFuture has served more than 150 at-risk high school students. 95% of our students have earned their high school diploma and/or remained enrolled in school.
Students and mentors meet twice per week for 16-weeks. After completion of the program high school students are eligible to be hired on as sailing instructors or continue as volunteers until they graduate from high school.
